General Secretary

Ing. Electricien (EPFL), Dr Sc Tech (EPFL), EMBA (MoT EPFL)

Joseph manages the day-to-day operations at INARTIS NETWORK. Previously, he held operational and executive positions in business development, M&S, project and product management in high technology companies (such as Phonak, CSEM, Adamant Technologies, Alpes Lasers). As the Central Coordinator at EPFL, he implemented its mandatory internship program.

Innovation Manager

Susanne has executive management responsibility for INARTIS NETWORK. In addition to INARTIS NETWORK, she works as a start-up entrepreneur, consultant and coach for SMEs and multinational companies. She previously held executive positions in professional associations in the agri-food sector (such as the FIAL) and in industry (notably, Nestlé).

Administrative Assistant

Angela serves as the administrative assistant for INARTIS NETWORK. She is responsible for the logistics, organizational and administrative tasks, and for helping INARTIS NETWORK members in their daily activities and providing support to INARTIS NETWORK members.

Benoît Dubuis

President

Chemical Eng. (EPFL), Dr Sc Tech (ETH), MTE (IMD)

He serves as President of INARTIS NETWORK and establishes the link with the Inartis Foundation. Benoît was the Director of Eclosion and BioAlps. He held responsibilities in industry (Chemap, Ciba-Geigy, Novartis, Lonza etc.), academia (ETHZ, Cranfield Uni., Cambridge Uni., EPFL) and technology transfer and serves today as the Director of Campus Biotech.

Petra Huber

Board Member

Msc in Pharmaceutical sciences (ETHZ), MAS in Management, Technology and Economics (ETHZ), “Fachapothekerin FPH”

Petra is a senior lecturer for cosmetics and toxicology at ZHAW and Board member of the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists IFSCC and of the Swiss Chapter Swiss SCC. She was awarded with the Kurt J. Pfeiffer memorial (2009) and the 2017 Poster Award IFSCC at the 29th IFSCC Conference in Seoul, Korea.

Peter Burckhardt

Board Member

started his career in Pharma Research of Ciba-Geigy. He changed to Ciba-Geigy / Novartis Animal Health where he was Head of Technical Development and Regulatory Affairs, then Head Supply Chain Management, CEO Novartis Animal Health Germany and Head of Communication. He served as CEO and later as Chairman of EVA (the Basel life sciences start-up agency) and as CEO of the BASEL INKUBATOR. Furthermore, he is President of the BioValley Business Angels Club BioBAC. Furthermore, he is in the Board of several Start-up companies.

Helmut Traitler

Board Member

graduated with a PhD degree in chemistry from the University of Vienna. Helmut assumed a broad range of executive positions at Nestlé, including Department Head at Nestlé Research Center and Vice-President global Innovation Partnerships. An entrepreneur and book author, he lives in California and is currently CEO at Life2Years Inc. and senior innovation connector at swissnex in San Francisco.

Helmut Knapp

Board Member

graduated in physics from TU Berlin, has a PhD in biophysics from the TU Munich, and has been active in the development of tools & instruments for the life sciences for over 27 years at the M.E. Müller Institute in Basel, the Max-Planck Institute for Biochemistry near Munich, the ETHZ, and finally CSEM. Today he heads CSEM’s center in Alpnach, focusing on Smart Automation & Process Control. He is responsible for CSEM’s Surface Engineering research program. He is also a board member of the industry cluster toolpoint for lab sciences and a board member of the applied research cluster biotechnet.
